The Pittsburgh Pirates have recalled right-handed reliever Kyle Nicolas from Triple-A Indianapolis. He takes the roster spot of fellow right-hander Ryder Ryan, who was optioned following Thursday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Bucs now have an empty spot in the bullpen. Following a 9th-inning collapse that ended the Pittsburgh Pirates’ three-game winning streak, the club made a plethora of roster moves before embarking for the opposite side of the state.
The Pittsburgh Pirates have optioned relief pitcher Ryder Ryan to Triple-A Indianapolis. Ryan pitched 5.1 innings across four appearances out of the bullpen to begin the season.
The Pirates agreed to a minor league contract with reliever Ryder Ryan, reports Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (X link). He’ll be in MLB camp as a non-roster invitee.
The Mariners announced this afternoon that right-handed reliever Ryder Ryan has cleared waivers and been assigned outright to Triple-A. There had been no previous indication that Ryan was on waivers.
The Seattle Mariners placed right-handed starter Bryan Woo on the 15-day injured list with right forearm inflammation on Tuesday and designated right-handed reliever Matt Festa for assignment.
